Women are so extremely vulnerable in Uganda. Uganda is a polygamous culture and does not uphold the rights as women as equal to men. From an early age women are taught dependence on men, only to find themselves in less than ideal situations, with many children to care for and an uninvolved husband. Through GDM’s marriage program, men in polygamous marriages are being taught to take only one wife. However, this raises a big question. If the man is willing to be obedient to the Word of God and take only one wife, what is to happen to all his other wives, who may care for his children and are dependent upon him financially? The church has to have an answer for this! The other victims are the widows, who due to the proliferation of AIDS, poor education and men being free to share many partners, find themselves losing their one source of provision to AIDS.
The majority of these women are not educated or skilled to be able to provide for themselves or their children, not to mention emotionally wounded.
The first goal of Hands of Love USA to answer to the need of the women and to empower the men to live godly lives is to help GDM build a training and support facility.
The building will provide housing and vocational training centers from which the ladies can learn a trade, be ministered to emotionally and spiritually and go on to be able to start a business or work to support their family, with renewed confidence and self-esteem..

Once this building is constructed we will establish specific programs to help serve the needs of the women and empower them for a self-sufficient future. Please visit us again to check our progress and to learn of other ways that you can be involved.
